The McGregor Museum is situated in Kimberley in the Northern Cape Province, South Africa.

The Museum opened in September 1907 and was originally named the Alexander McGregor Museum, after this diamond pioneer and former Mayor of Kimberley. The Museum moved to a larger building in the 70’s, the beautiful old Kimberley Sanatorium and the name was shortened to the McGregor Museum. This Victorian building also served as a base and home to Cecil John Rhodes during the “Siege of Kimberley” at the time of the Anglo-Boer War.

The museum houses major cultural and natural history collections. The Exhibition on the Liberation Struggle as it touched on the lives of the people in the Northern Cape is particularly enlightening. Other popular attractions are the Ancestors Gallery and the Enviro Zone.
