The Eastern Cape Midlands
The area of Inxuba Yethemba stretches between the two towns of Cradock and Middleburg, following the N10 in the Eastern Cape. The towns are fairly similar and both towns’ rural areas consist mainly of commercial farms. The economy of the area is largely based on agriculture and tourism, which is no surprise as the area offers beautiful scenery and many natural attractions.
There is nothing more spectacular than the night skies in this small part of the country. Unhindered by city lights and pollution, the skies are bright with stars and perfect for star gazing all year round. The best time to visit this area of the Karoo though is Spring time because of the flower displays, but Karoo midwinter snows in July can also be special.
The area also offers a destination where you can relax, unwind and enjoy the culture of the people in the small towns of the Inxuba Yethemba area. The towns are rich in culture, diversity and history – the Schreiner House Museum has loads of interesting facts on the history of both Middelburg and Cradock and is a must when spending time in Cradock.
One last famous attraction the area has is its food! Known as a culinary destination this little part of the Karoo has its own annual food festival. But not to worry, if you can’t make the festival, the locals will always delight their visitors with their culinary skills, no matter what time of year! So come travel the N10, best done at your own pace, and enjoy all that is on offer in the Eastern Cape Midlands.

The Municipality of Inxuba Yethemba was established in 2000 through the merger of former Cradock TLC and Middelburg TLC.
