Klaserie Dam

Small sign, but BIG Dam!

Klaserie Dam is situated 28 km outside Hoedspruit in Limpopo, South Africa.

Klaserie Dam is situated in a private reserve and is privately and independently managed, but the surrounding area belongs to the Department of Water Affairs. There are two main areas, The Island and the Army Camp. The Island has electricity as well as ablutions, but no day visitors are allowed here. The Army camp also has electricity and toilets, but no ablutions and day visitors are welcome.

The area has the occasional buck roaming free, but no wild animals. Hyenas and lion can sometimes be heard from the nearby Kapama Game Reserve, usually at night. The Dam has no formal activities, but is popular with nature lovers, campers, anglers, boaters and anyone looking for a tranquil time out. There is a strict catch and release policy for Carp, but there are other fish found in the Dam such as Catfish, Bream and Bass fish.

Please note no pets are allowed. Also no loud music, quad bikes or motorbikes as visitors are generally here to appreciate the peacefulness of the surrounding nature.
