The Only Eco-Marine Festival in SA
Hermanus is known as the best land based whale watching destination in the world, so it seems only natural you would host a Whale Festival here. The Hermanus Whale Festival is the only Enviro-Arts festival in South Africa and as the 26th Hermanus Whale Festival it is the oldest and largest festival on the Cape Whale Coast.
September and October are the best time for whale watching and this family friendly festival invites residents and visitors to participate in celebration of the Whales and other marine wildlife – above and below the ocean - with ocean-themed activities and exhibitions down in the Old Harbour and of course land, water and air based whale watching. The Whales are always the stars of the show, but visitors can also enjoy great food, quality crafts, live music entertainment, great sports events and so much more!
In addition to all the great food, music, shopping and activities on over this festival weekend, visitors of all ages can also learn a thing or two at the Marine Endangered Species Tent and the Whale Filmfest will feature shows on topics related to all the beautiful aquatic creatures. The main focus remains to bring awareness and celebrate the annual return of the Southern Right Whales to our coast.
Each year this Eco Marine Village welcomes thousands of visitors who come to celebrate the whales, so make sure you book early to ensure the best in accommodation and activities in this beautiful seaside resort!
