Port Elizabeth City Hall can be found on Vuyisile Mini Square close to the harbour in the city centre and is of great historical importance. It is very popular with tourists both local and from other countries as it is a magnificent example of old colonial style architecture. At present the hall houses a council chamber and a concert or lecture hall.

Architecture

The architectural style of the City Hall is Victorian Neo-Classical and consists of a double story building with stone and smooth plaster finish constructed by Vos and Philip.

  • Auditorium: Cinema, 165 people

History

1858 - 1862: The City Hall was constructed.

1883: The clock tower was added in. 

1973: The hall was declared a national monument.
