The Outeniqua Transport Museum is situated in George in the Western Cape, South Africa.

The museum is a great place to visit, especially on rainy days when the beach is not an option. On display is an incredible selection of trains. The Royal Train that transported the British Royal family on their visit to South Africa in 1947 in just one of the historic trains in the exhibition. The collection has 13 steam trains including a narrow gauge, Johannesburg’s first steam train and private coaches and saloons.

Visitors will also find an interesting exhibition of vintage cars, a photo gallery and other items such as cutlery and crockery, models and even poetry relating to trains.

The Museum has a coffee shop for refreshments and is also where the Outeniqua Power Van departs from so these two activities could be combined for an all-day outing.
