St Peter's United Church

The town of Deneysville was named after Deneys Reitz, born in 1882, who was the Minister of Water Affairs at the time of the dam's construction and was a son of a former president of the Orange Free State Republic. The Reitz family's weekend cottage is now St. Peters United (Interdenominational) Church.

Nestled on the banks of the Vaal Dam under trees this small, beautiful historical stone and thatch building, with inspiring views, has become a popular wedding venue.

Used as a Church since 1978, the initial 2 rondawel-like structures were originally built & owned by the brother of Deneys Reitz. Its Foundation Stone was laid by Rev 'Bill' Meaker of the Methodist Church - Sasolburg

Directions : Enter Deneysville in Main Street. At the second stop street opposite the Post Office turn left into Voortrekker and again immediately right into Aqua. Continue straight until you arrive at the church on the water's edge, just off Johnson Street.
