Anton Smit Sculpture Park in Kungwini Country Estate, Bronkhorstspruit, Gauteng
Anton Smit, world-renowned South African Sculptor, began his career at age 16 when he won his first sculpting competition. His work has been shown internationally in places such as Rome, Milan, Amsterdam, Cologne, Singapore and Germany. Today the public are invited to view the works of this impressive artist in the Anton Smit Sculpture Garden in Bronkhorstspruit.
This three hectare sculpture park is situated on the northern side of the Bronkhorstspruit Dam with pristine lawns and a bountiful garden full of a variety of plants. This suitably stunning environment is ideal for viewing the artists extensive collection of exquisite sculptures.
Visitors will find Anton Smit’s inspiring and intricately carved sculptures dotted all around the Park which attracts tourists, art lovers as well as buyers who all come to see the open-air art exhibition with a difference. One of the highlights of the Park is the artists creation of a monumental sculpture wall on the theme of “Revelations”, the last book of the New Testament. The piece deals thematically with the emotional impact of “Revelations” on the human race.
The onsite Gallery is open for art collectors to purchase their favourite piece and a visit to the Park is not complete without a light lunch at the beautiful Coffee Shop. This fascinating attraction is only an hour away from Johannesburg and even closer to Pretoria, a perfect day outing for the city slicker!
