Monkeyland is situated in The Crags in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Monkeyland is one of three sanctuaries in the Plettenberg Bay area managed by the South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance, the others being Birds of Eden and Jukani Wildlife Sanctuaries. It is the world’s first free roaming multi-specie primate sanctuary.

Visitors are taken on a guided tour to see these free-roaming mammals in their natural habitat. Of the 550 resident primates, some are rescued or rehabilitated and some born in the sanctuary. Monkey species you can encounter are Spider Monkey, Ringtail Lemurs, Bushbabies, Saki Monkeys, Squirrel Monkeys, Howler Monkeys and Capuchin and many more. The guides are very knowledgeable, parting with monkey secrets while taking a stroll through the beautiful 23 hectare forest, which includes a walk across Africa’s longest rope suspension bridge - a truly wonderful way to spend a few hours.

Why not consider adopting a primate from Monkeylands’ custodian Touch a Monkey’s Heart Foundation and save a monkey?
