This is a large cattle farming area, home to approximately only 1 500 residents and wonderful hospitality. The little picturesque town offers all the essentials including small cafés and quaint restaurants.
Steynsrus is an old fashion town, and as to be expected, visitors will find its’ impressive Church in the centre of town – a sandstone church which is a fine reflection of turn-of-the-century sandstone architecture worth seeing.
Steynsrus doesn’t offer too much by way of accommodation except for a few self-catering guesthouse in the area however, Kroonstad offers many accommodation options for visitors who would like to take a day trip into the small town.

Steynsrus receives approximately 631 mm of rain annually with most rainfall occurring during the Summer months.
Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 15˚C and 29˚C.
Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between -1˚C and 17˚C.
There are daily domestic flights into Bloemfontein’s, Bram Fischer International Airport approximately 223 Km away via the N5 and N1 and into Johannesburg’s O R Tambo International Airport approximately 262 km away via the N1. Car rental companies are available for easy access around the area.
Steynsrus was established in 1910 and named after the last president of the Orange Free State Republic, M T Steyn.
