Gateway to the Vaal Dam Deneysville is situated on the Free State / Gauteng border of the Vaal Dam, only 30 km from the Vaal Triangle towns of Vereeniging, Vanderbijlpark, and Sasolburg and a mere 100 km from Johannesburg. It is the perfect venue for a day out or weekend away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is no surprise this pretty little town is regarded as the gateway to the Vaal Dam, it literally lies on the banks of this large body of water and alongside the Dam Wall! With many hiking trails plus a 60 km route you can take by car, we suggest an early start as the weather can get very warm during the day. Heidelberg offers a picturesque country lifestyle, steeped in history so there are a fair amount of attractions in the form of…

3. Sasolburg

Sasolburg is a pleasant town, known for the glow of the exhaust flames and the distinctive, sweetish odour from the Sasol Refinery, the reason for the towns existence. Interestingly, despite all the industrial activities, Sasolburg has a wonderful environmental awareness program and is home to more flora than people. Approximately 72 000 trees have been planted in Sasolburg and the town boasts almost 12 000 oak trees, including 26 different oak variants. The towns location on the banks of the Vaal…
