South Africa
skoonheid jy sal nooit vergeet nie

Orient Beach in the Eastern Cape of South Africa is situated in the small suburb of Quigney in the city of East London.

The Beach is at the southern end of the Esplanade and close to hotels, restaurants and shops, making it a popular destination with tourists. The beach has lifeguards on duty and is known for its safe swimming environment as the surf is normally quite gentle in the area due to the breakwaters from the harbour.

This poplar beach was previously known as Sandy Beach before 1907 and was then named after the Russian Ship called the SS Orient after it ran aground on the shore. At low tide the remains of the wreck can still be seen.
