Motseng Cultural Village in Sun City, Moses Kotane Platteland, Noordwes
An experience for all your senses!
Motseng Cultural Village in the North West Province of South Africa is situated within the grounds of Sun City, a holiday resort about 2 hours from Johannesburg and close to the towns of Rustenburg and Hartbeespoort.
This Cultural Village is unlike your ordinary museum, a visit here is an experience for all your senses as it is a living cultural village. Visitors are welcomed with traditional African song and dance showing the pride and passion the African people have for their culture. This also means when you find that souvenir to take home, you are most likely to meet its maker outside. Members of the local community are employed here as crafters and they sell their wares in the village craft shop. Some work as shop assistants or tour guides, so your experience when learning about the fascinating day to day life of the eight different South African cultures, is an authentic one.
Motseng also caters for those who like the night life. There is an authentic township style Shebeen (informal drinking place) where you can listen to the African music called "kwaito" while enjoying a game of pool and drinking the local beer.
