Bessiekop Walking Trail in Montagu, Wes-Kaap

Bessiekop is a 1,7km fairly easy circular walking trail within the Montagu Nature Garden which begins and ends behind the tea garden. Benches placed at strategic intervals assist visitors to the top of Bessiekop where you will experience a magnificent panoramic view of the town and the surrounding Cape Folded Mountains. 

Bloupunt, one of the highest peaks in the area can be seen in the distance. One is also sure to catch sight of a geometric tortoise, a dassie midden or some colourful sunbirds. 

At the end of the walk there is a dam with a stream, some benches and lush lawns which provide a welcome rest or picnic spot.
