The Elephant Sanctuary in Mbombela Plattelands, Mpumalanga
The Elephant Sanctuary is situated just outside Hazyview in the Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.
There are three Elephant Sanctuaries across three provinces in South Africa. The Hazyview Elephant Sanctuary is located just 10 km from the Kruger National Park’s Phoebeni Gate and is well worth a visit. The elephants at the sanctuary are African Elephants and guests can choose from a variety of daily programs and interactive experiences from walking tours, feeding and grooming to elephant back rides.
The staff train the elephants through positive reinforcement methods which ensures that the elephants are relaxed and enjoy the interaction with the guests, just as much as the guests do. Groups are kept small, providing guests with a far more intimate experience so prior booking is essential.
