Calypso Beach is a West facing beach inLangebaan and probably the best attraction of this beach is its easy access and privacy.

This pristine beach has delightfully warm water and because there are no currents it makes Calypso Beach the perfect swimming and bodysurfing beach while holidaying at this popular seaside destination. There are mostly small waves, however occasionally larger winter swells wrap through the Lagoon providing satisfying surfing conditions. The beach also has some windless zones that are tucked away from the South Easter which offers sunbathers a fantastically peaceful day of soaking up the sun!

An interesting fact most visitors do not know about Calypso Beach is that it is one of the only traditional Black Oystercatcher’s breeding areas. The Black Oystercatcher is an endangered bird, quite beautiful and characterised by red eyes and eye rings and a completely dark plumage. With a population of less than 5 000, visitors can count themselves some of the lucky few to have the opportunity to perhaps see one of these rare birds while relaxing at Calypso Beach.
