A Happy Place for Kids

For more than 50 years now, the Rotary Blue Train Park has been keeping families entertained throughout the year. It is now considered an iconic feature to Cape Town’s unforgettable seaside landscape.

This fun filled venue lies only 25 metres from the Atlantic Ocean and has beautiful views of Lionshead, Signal Hill and Table Mountain. Take a trip on Cape Town’s only miniature train with views of the sea, passing ships and Robben Island. Kids can also spend time in the safe park area with jungle gyms, a climbing rock and other fun items.

A recent addition to this already popular play Park is South Africa’s first outdoor ice rink, which was opened to the public on the 30th December 2015. The Park has undergone substantial refurbishments over the last few months and the ice rink will no doubt be its’ most popular new addition, bringing much joy to the many visitors of the Park. The rink is 126 m² and is environmentally friendly as it does not require any electrical power to operate. It is similar to other ice rinks in at least 70 different countries as well as the well-known entertainment Park, Disneyland.

A large portion of the proceeds taken in from the Park are donated to the Rotary Charity and the remainder is invested in park operations and maintenance. The Park is a unique venue and offers a fantastic outdoor play experience so don’t miss out if you visiting Cape Town.
