Kaapmuiden (Cape Mouth) is a small farming town situated just the N4 highway between Nelspruit and Malelane and is marked by a large abandoned silo which has been painted to attract visitors to the town.
As with most small towns between the main tourist spots of Mpumalanga, Kaapmuiden has little to offer in the way of attractions, but this quaint town is worth a stop, even if just to admire the beautiful old-style tin roofed houses that line the main street.
There are some deep pools in the De Kaap River which offers excellent fishing spots and local farmers combined to form an eco-mountain reserve where game such as Buffalo, Rhino, Kudu and Nyala can roam free which allows for some game farm viewing, biking and hiking trails.
The town is only 25 km away from the world famous Kruger National Park and local farmers usually provide accommodation in lodge style or guest house settings for travelers who want to overnight.
