A West Coast Secret Beach

The peaceful fishing village of Stilbaai along the Cape West Coast is home to Preekstoel Beach. The beach was named so after the impressive rock formation found here which resembles a Preachers Pulpit (Preekstoel). The rock formation juts out of the sand at the point where it touches the water, providing convenient shelter for those playing in the shallow waters below.

Preekstoel Beach has earned itself the status of a Blue Flag beach and is situated within the Stilbaai Marine Protected Area. It is also known as one the “secret beaches” along this coastline, making it more exclusive and less crowded than its neighbours. The beach offers magnificent views, warm waters ideal for swimming and snorkelling and its length makes it great for long walks. There is even a rusted shipwreck to add to its charm.

Pack a picnic lunch, please note braaing is not allowed on the beach, and head out for a day in the sun. Don’t forget your sunscreen, hat and your camera!
