Karoo-lus

Karoo-lus is an annual festival rich in culture which takes place in the jewel of the Karoo, Graaff-Reinet. Formerly known as the “Graaff-Reinet Dam Day Festival”, this is a festival which celebrates the Karoo lifestyle, traditions, music, art, tourism, food and so much more!

The first Karoo-lus took place in 2010, celebrating in the unbelievable beauty of the Karoo landscape, the festival was as unique as the Karoo itself. Today, more than 5000 visitors attend to relish in the true hospitality of the Karoo people. There are over 80 stalls offering delicious food, refreshments and local arts and crafts.

In addition to indulging in local dishes, there will be an array of exciting activities including dog shows, sporting events, cooking competitions, talent and dance performances as well as live music and a beer tent with its own DJ for entertainment late into the evening!

It goes without saying that the whole family will be entertained, kids have their own designated play area and adults can enjoy fun activities, socialising and shopping.

Bring along your own camp chairs, but no umbrellas or gazebos are allowed.
