Yzerfontein Main Beach

The small seaside village of Yzerfontein on the Cape West Coast is well known for its’ beautiful spring wildflowers, but also for its’ wide and sandy Main Beach that stretches for 16 miles. The harbour village and pristine beach is only 90 km from Cape Town and the tranquil shores have become quiet the weekend getaway attraction.
Yzerfontein Main Beach is a beautiful wide, sandy beach perfect for long walks. Unspoilt and uncrowded it is the perfect spot for sunbathing and picnics. The coastline is washed by the cold Benguela current so you might only wade in the shallow water, but the beach is perfect for fishing.
Yzerfontein Main Beach is a safe family beach and has recently been re-awarded its coveted Blue Flag status. Blue Flag status is an international award given to beaches that meet the Foundation of Environmental Education’s stringent standards in the areas of safety, cleanliness, amenities and environmental affairs. During the holiday season, visitors can participate in environmental education programs.
