The Langersnek Pass may not be the most memorable Pass to drive but it does offer beautiful sandstone mountain scenery, which is particularly pretty in winter with snow-capped tops.  The main attraction of the Pass may be because it traverses right
through the middle of the Moolmanshoek Private Game Reserve and therefore presents an excellent opportunity to do some free game viewing!

The Pass can be driven in either direction. From north to south, the road begins at a low point and gently climbs slowly toward the summit which is reached at the 2.2 km mark from this direction. All along this section the road is lined with game fencing and animals may be visible on both sides. Just after the summit the road splits, if you are not planning on visiting the Moolmanshoek Reserve itself, be sure to keep to the right, the left takes you directly into the Reserve.

The descent takes you down into the horseshoe shaped valley below, the game fencing continues so keep an eye out for more animals. The road flattens out a little and passes through an avenue of dense bush and trees, most indigenous with a few large Willows thrown in for extra greenery.

The final section provides the best views of the mountains to your left. After the very large Willow tree the Pass ends – here you can decide to turn right and back to the R70 or if you are feeling adventurous, continue straight on along the farm roads to the south which will eventually leave you close to Ficksburg.
