Petrusville, Northern Cape
- Information
- Commerces & Services (4)
Petrusville is situated along the R48 in the Northern Cape, between Van der kloof and Philipstown, approximately 45 km’s to the south.
Petrusville is just one of many isolated little villages in the midst of the Karoo’s endless plateaus, where an infinite sky and horizon seem to go on without end! It is a typical Upper Karoo, semi-desert town with flat hilltops and open fields.
The stillness allows for complete relaxation, which would be one of the reasons to visit this little village, the other being to visit the Vanderkloof Dam perhaps. The Dam lies less than thirty minutes from Petrusville and is the second largest dam in South Africa with a wall that towers to 108 metres. The Dam offers water adventures such as kayaking, fishing, boating and sailing
The small town itself has a few points of interest but another large drawcard to visiting Petrusville is the Rolfontein Nature Reserve. The short 4 km Pied Barbet Trail is a popular past time, but the reserve also has excellent overnight trails you can book ahead of time.
Petrusville has a few self-catering and guesthouse accommodation options within a 20 km radius.

Mr van der Walt bought the farm in 1810 and donated a portion of his land to the Dutch Reformed Church for the purpose of establishing the Church and town.
