Crocodile Cage Diving in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape

We have all heard of Shark Cage Diving, but now, in a world first, the Cango Wildlife Ranch in Oudtshoorn offers a new form of an extreme and intense close encounter of the wildlife kind – Crocodile Cage Diving!

As part of the Valley of Ancients tour at the very popular wildlife ranch, guests are offered the opportunity of a life time, a close encounter with these ancient predators. On entering “Snapper Gorge”, visitors will cross over the diving pool via a suspension bridge while the 4 metre long Nile Crocodiles wait silently below for those brave enough to take a dip in their pool!

To take part in this thrilling experience, you must be 14 years or older. You will be lowered into the clear water pool in a bite-proof cage, the Nile Crocodile has a bite pressure of over two tons per square inch, four times that of the Great White Shark. One in the company of these ancient reptiles you can experience an up close and personal view of them in their natural habitat. Participants are kitted out with goggles and a snorkel and will leave with a photograph of their encounter underwater.

This is not for the faint at heart, but it is an opportunity to have a unique vacation story to tell to family and friends back home!

Admission

Ticket prices are between R90 and R270 each which includes the standard tour of the whole Cango Wildlife Ranch. A Croc Cage Diving encounter will cost between R120 and R180. Prices are subject to change, please contact the Ranch directly to confirm pricing. Prior booking for animal encounters is essential.

Climate

Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 16˚C and 32˚C with high rainfall in March and October/November.

Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between 5˚C and 20˚C with possible light rainfall throughout.

Transport

Commercial Airlines offer flights into George Airport, 56 km away from Oudtshoorn. Car hire facilities are located at the Airports.
