Diamond of the West Coast
The small fishing village of Lambert’s Bay has become a popular tourist attraction along the Cape West Coast. Situated in the heart of crayfish country this seafood mecca attracts day-trippers, weekenders and holiday makers.
Lambert’s Bay, because of its white beaches, plentiful bird life and abundance of lobsters, has been proclaimed the “diamond of the west coast”. Visitors have plenty outdoor activities at their fingertips from the obvious swimming, surfing and sunbathing to dune sandboarding, quad biking and 4x4 trailing. Only 100 meters from the shoreline is one of only six Cape Gannet colonies in the world and is a must see.
The picturesque town is set to ensure that all visitors enjoy the best of all that is on offer. Enjoy organized boat trips for whale and dolphin sightseeing, guided dune quad biking trips, microlight flights and of course no visit is complete without a meal at one of the famous open-air restaurants where unforgettable traditional meals are served right next to the shoreline.

The area receives most of its rainfall between June and August and enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate most of the year.
Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 15˚C and 27˚C.
Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between 7˚C and 17˚C.
Lambert’s Bay was named after Admiral Lambert of the British Navy. Admiral Lambert did a marine survey of the Bay 1826 and 1840 and the Bay.
In 1888, the first Hotel was built by Mr. Stephan and by the early 1900’s Lambert’s Bay was being used as a lay-up for British warships. In 1901 the “HMS Sybille” was wrecked opposite Steenbokfontein.
The first crayfish factory was started in 1918 by Mr. Lindström.
