Punda Maria Rest Camp

Built in 1934 on the lower slopes of a hill the Punda Maria Camp still retains much of its "Old Africa" charm and being so remote it is therefore also very quiet and peaceful. Being the northern-most camp in the Kruger Park it is very hot in mid-summer.

The name Punda, meaning striped donkey or zebra, lies in the Park's highest rainfall area and is a paradise for bird-lover's.

The Camp lies within a day's game drive there and back to the Pafuri Picnic Site and Crooks' Corner.

Punda Maria has the Nyalaland Wilderness Trail, the Paradise Flycatcher Trail and the Thulamela archaelogical site around and close to the camp. They offer day and night game drives and there is also a swimming pool, a birdhide, a mini-ATM and a postbox.
