1. Indwe

Karoo Heartland The tiny town of Indwe lies between Dordrecht and Elliot, approximately 70 Km north-east of Queenstown and at the foot of the picturesque Stormberg Mountains. Indwe is a small historical mining town with not much to do except the beautiful Reformed Church is worth a visit. Most travellers pass through the town when taking the R56 as an alternative route to the Transkei. This route may take a little longer but allows the traveller to explore a few little out of the way towns and offers a more scenic drive over a few mountain passes. Its rural and remote position offers very little for travellers other than a country feel. Dairy and sheep farming is the mainstay of the area. The town lies on the Komani River with the Hangklip Mountains as a backdrop and is an ideal base from which to explore the many nature reserves in the area.
