Land of the Silver Mist
Haenertsburg lies on the slopes of the Wolkberg mountain range between Polokwane and Tzaneen. Perched up in the hills, Haenertsburg looks like a little piece of Austria transplanted into Africa.
From the wide expanses of bushveld usually found in the Limpopo province, the picturesque village of Haenertsburg is a welcome oasis of forest patches, lush green grasslands and rolling hills. It is therefore no surprise that the town is a popular destination for cyclists, hikers and all-round nature lovers. The Louis Changuion Hiking Trail offers an exhilarating walk through the unique Haenertsburg Grasslands and Ebenezer Dam provides a wonderful place for water sports.
The region offers an overwhelming diversity of plant life, some cabbage trees, yellowwoods and stinkwoods reach quite mammoth proportions and over 200 orchids have been identified in the forests. Haenertsburg is well-known for its annual Spring Fair where various flower displays are exhibited.
This tiny village consisting of just one main street offers visitors a rare opportunity to really unwind and to experience authentic village life - a lovely place to enjoy a quiet meal before or after enjoying the great outdoors!
Accommodation options in and around Haenertsburg and Magoebaskloof include B&B’s, Guesthouses and self-catering lodges.

The remains of the last Long Tom gun can be found here and a collection of memorabilia including items from the Anglo Boer-War can be seen in the hall of the municipal offices.
