D H Steyn Bridge (Hennie Steyn Bridge) in Gariep Rural, Eastern Cape
The D. H. Steyn Bridge (also known as the Hennie Steyn Bridge, or simply as the Bethulie Bridge) is a beautiful arched sandstone bridge that spans the Orange River just outside the town of Bethulie and connects the Free State with the Eastern Cape.
At 1,2 km in length, it is the longest combined road and rail bridge in the country.
One can stop on the bridge and experience magnificent sunsets and beautiful views of the village and surrounding nature reserves.
