Discover Cape Town in a different way by taking an exciting underground tour through the Mother City! Good Hope Adventures offers unique underground Tunnel Tours of Cape Town city centre - highly recommended for anyone with a slight interest in Cape Town’s history, or just the city in general.

You will be exploring aspects of the city that relate to the social life of the first 200 years of the European occupation. Explorers will discover the mysterious passageways below the city, some of which date back to 1652, which used to supply the Company Gardens and the passing ships with fresh water.

The Tunnel Tour in Cape Town starts at the historical landmark of the Castle of Good Hope, and depending on the tour chosen, lasts between 1 and 3 hours. The tour teaches you about some of the myths and legends that surround the labyrinth beneath the streets as well as interesting facts about the tunnels that run all the way from the top of Table Mountain to where the Castle stands today. Some of the myths tell of dark, creepy places and include tales of the ghosts of the dead men held as prisoners at the castle - the tour is fascinating for the stories alone!

You will need to be reasonably fit to complete the tour and if you are heavily claustrophobic, and remember creepy crawlies do live in tunnels, then please speak to the tour guide before booking. Headlamps are a must and it is recommended to bring a pair of gumboots and to wear shorts as the water can be at shin height in places!

Excitement and adrenaline kick in as you climb down into another world below the city of Cape Town to experience a completely new perspective on the city!
