Bram Fischer International Airport in the Free State Province of South Africa is situated just 10 km from all major locations in the city of Bloemfontein.

Bram Fischer International Airport currently operates domestic only routes in South Africa and its’ passenger terminal is equipped to handle over 400 000 passengers annually. The airport is considered an economic hub situated ideally on the N8 Corridor to link Bloemfontein, the industrial area of Botshabelo and Maseru in Lesotho.

Bloemfontein has rainfall in the summer months.

Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 16˚C and 35˚C.

Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between -1˚C and 22˚C.


Various forms of transportation to and from the airport would be airport or hotel shuttles, hired cars or taxis.

The airport has specified drop-off and pick-up areas and for those traveling with their own vehicles, ample parking is provided, including long term parking facilities.

Travelers are advised to arrive one and a half hours before the departure of domestic flights.


Formally known as Bloemfontein International Airport, the name was officially changed on December 2012 to Bram Fischer International Airport. Bram Fischer was a lawyer from Afrikaner descent and an anti-apartheid activist. He provided legal defense for a number of anti-apartheid figures, including Nelson Mandela at the famous Rivonia Trial.
