Roossenekal is situated between Groblersdal and Lydenburg in an area known as the Cultural Heartland, where some of South Africa’s most beautiful landscapes are found.
This small village, some may say a sad little village home to only about 2 700 folks may be remote, however it is less than 100 km’s from Middelburg and only a few hours drive from the world-renowned Kruger National Park. Other attractions under two hours from town would be God’s Window, Pilgrims Rest and of course this part of the country offers an entirely different perspective of the untouched beauty of South Africa, as well as of its history and culture.
The Roossenekal area has a rich botanical heritage which has resulted in a transition zone with diverse flora, including the yellow arum lily – the Yellow Arum Lily Festival has become one of the main tourist attractions in the area. The festival takes place in March in conjunction with the Peach Festival in nearby Tonteldoos.
Accommodation options include Self-Catering, B&B’s and Guest Farms in and around the valley, from Groblersdal to Lydenburg.
