Wonderboom Nature Reserve, Pretoria, Gauteng
The Wonderboom Nature Reserve in Gauteng of South Africa is situated just 7 km from the city of Pretoria.
The Reserve is a fairly small Reserve in the Magaliesburg Mountains, but it offers its visitors much to see. The main attraction would be its namesake, the "Wonderboom" (Miracle Tree). This giant Wild Fig Tree stands 25 metres tall and 55 metres wide. The tree is estimated to be 1000 years old and legend has it that a powerful Chief from an indigenous tribe was buried here and this is the reason the tree has grown to such an enormous size.
