Strand Golf Club

The Strand Golf Course is situated just off the N2 in the town of the same name, close to Somerset West, the Cape Winelands as well as the Strand Beach. The golf course lies between the beautiful Hottentots-Holland Mountain Range and has amazing views of everything that nature has to offer.

This course is an 18 hole, 72 Par Championship course, 5760 metres in length with Kikuyu grass fairways and beautiful bent grass greens. When the Golf Club opened in 1994, 2500 trees were planted and they have now rooted themselves into play, making for some unique hazards. This striking golf course is also famous for its excellently kept greens and numerous and clever water hazards.

Because the course is situated so near to the ocean, the most obvious hazard is lots of wind. The local golfers, however don’t seem too bothered, but have instead embraced it and now in fact, hold an annual tournament in honour of the famous “South Easterly Wind”.

Over the years it has been proven that the course has been in good hands and the management teams’ great care ensured the course won the award for “most improved course in the Cape” by Complete Golfer Magazine.
