South Africa
beauty, you'll never forget

Pollock Beach or as it is known locally as the Pipe, is favoured by surfers and it gets its nickname from the rock in front of the storm water pipe being the take-off spot for all the surfers. You’ll find it in the suburb of Summerstrand in Port Elizabeth, in front of Something Good Roadhouse and close to the Humewood Golf Course.

Pollock Beach is yet another beautiful Sunshine Coast beach. Its’ interesting name hails from a hotel, now non-existent, built in the late 1890s by a Scotsman named Pollok. It was demolished to make way for Summerseas Holiday Apartments.

The beach has a natural tidal pool, formed by a shelf of rocks between which there is a narrow channel of water where children often jump from into the tidal pool. A 2km elevated walkway connecting Kings Beach to Pollock Beach and is worth taking a stroll along, especially if you like Dolphin watching.

The far side of the beach can get rather crowded over peak holiday seasons, but the beach is still worth visiting for its many activities for both young and old and is wonderfully beautiful spot for just relaxing in the sun.
