A South African Winter Christmas

Christmas in South Africa has always been in the Summer, characterised by braais and swimming in the pool, but if you want to sip eggnog by the fireplace wearing colourful jerseys then look no further than Tulbagh Christmas in Winter this June!

Over the weekend of the 22nd June, Tulbagh will be decked out in yuletide lights and décor and all the shops, bars, restaurants and museums get involved in keeping the atmosphere of Christmas alive. Restaurants offer Christmas-inspired menus and plenty of glühwein, to keep the chills at bay and the party going. It wouldn’t be Christmas if Father Christmas didn’t make an appearance, so expect to see him riding through the streets handing out treats to all children!

There are numerous activities for the kids to enjoy and keep them busy. Market goers can peruse to their hearts content at the many arts and crafts stalls, taking home with them any Christmas gifts for friends, family or themselves that catches their fancy.

Though the event is the biggest part of the attraction, a trip to Tulbagh is never complete without some wine tasting! So be sure to visit the many estates in the region to sample some of the diverse range Tulbagh has to offer.
