The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival is South Africa’s oldest Jazz Festival and one of the best on the African continent. The highly anticipated event takes place in Johannesburg, Africa’s greatest city where people work hard and play hard and this September will immerse themselves in the Magic of Jazz!
This year the Joy of Jazz is celebrating 20 years of soulful sounds and soothing blues, featuring 90% Jazz and 10% sub-genre of jazz. The audience will hear Straight Ahead Jazz, various African Jazz sounds, Kwela, Avant-garde Jazz, Acid Jazz, R & B and everything inbetween and around! The event is set to entertain event goers with a stellar line-up of musicians from around the globe.
The Jazz Festival started in Pretoria and has grown exponentially, showcasing both established and developing artists. Leading the line-up for 2017 is American jazz giant Branford Marsalis, three-time Grammy Award winner and South Africa’s Abdullah Ibrahim, one of SA’s most distinguished pianists and a world respected master musician.
With acts such as these appearing on stage, bringing jazz lovers raw emotion and passion with smooth blues and tunes like never before, you need to save the date and book your places fast!
