A Great Beach for the Kids

Sandbaai Beach is a huge draw card for visitors to Hermanus and its surrounding seaside villages. The Mediterranean climate at the seaside suburb means that long hot summer days can be enjoyed at Sandbaai Beach.

The beach comes dotted with rock pools, exciting little coves and popular snorkelling spots. These rock pools offer the greatest playground for your little one where they can play around with fishing nets in the shallow water and gaze at star fish! The beach is also a wonderful size for children to run and play on, build sandcastles and collect shells. It may not be considered the best spot for swimming because of all the rocks and kelp, but surfers frequent the beach when the waves are just right!

Relaxed and far from the hustle and bustle, Sandbaai Beach is also a great spot for sunbathing or taking a long walk, there is a gorgeous coastal path that runs along the shoreline here.

Although there is no café at the beach, there is a small restaurant within walking distance if you would like to get out of the sun a bit, otherwise bring along your umbrella and pack your own beach picnic basket. Facilities include a small bathroom block and a small gravel parking area. Life guards are also on duty during peak season to ensure your families safety!
