Humewood Beach is a typically Eastern Cape, sandy, beach with good waves and was awarded a Blue Flag status for 2013/2014. It is situated on the sea side of Happy Valley, a well-known landmark, in Beach Road, on the outskirts of the central business district.

The beach in Humewood forms part of the promenade running along the beachfront which links walkways and paths to the main beaches and various facilities.This beach is very popular due to the shade supplied by the overhead promenade and the easy access to grassy lawns and shady trees of Happy Valley.

Wheelchair Facilities

Facilities for the disabled are impressive with special wheelchairs that can be used on the beach and in the sea and lifeguards who assist when required.

Promenade

The promenade runs along the beachfront linking the beach, swimming pools and other facilities and the Shops and restaurants are close by. Several hotels in walking distance of the beach.

Lifeguards are in attendance between November and April (the 6-month Blue Flag season)

The municipality has its own Environmental Education division, which is constantly involved in various environmental initiatives.

Access to the beach is via a parking area behind the City Lodge Hotel in Marine Drive.
