South Africa's first official Nudist Beach

Mpenjati Beach is situated in  Palm Beach, 12 km north of Port Edward in the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.

This 500 metre stretch of beach forms part of the Mpenjati Nature Reserve, making it a popular destination for all tourists. Plenty of water activities can be found here and include fishing, board sailing, boating and swimming. The area is also known for bird watching, its beautiful scenery and relaxing atmosphere.

In October 2014, 250 metres of the Mpenjati Beach was proclaimed as a nudist beach, the first official nude beach in South Africa. Appropriate signage has been placed along the beach front for tourists to ensure all visitors are aware of the new status of the beach.

Admission

The Beach is open every day of the year during daylight hours and there is no admission fee charged.

Climate

Port Edward mainly has rainfall in the summer months.

Summer months, November to March will have average temperatures of between 16˚C and 26˚C.

Winter months, May to August will have average temperatures of between 10˚C and 22˚C.

Transport

There are daily flights into Durban’s  King Shaka Airport, where car rental facilities are available. Port Edward is approximately 160 km away from Durban via the N2.
