West Beach

The beach here is not recommended for swimming as there are dangerous rip tides.

However, mom and dad can still soak up the sun while the kids play volleyball and other beach games, or fashion sandcastles.

Surfing

West Beach is a heaving, wedging left-hander that is not for the faint-hearted.

With the prevailing easterly longshore drift, the west pier causes heavy sand deposits and extremely shallow sandbanks, while the pier itself causes waves to reflect off it meeting the incoming swells to form a powerful wedge that only experienced surfers should tackle.

Although West Beach offers decent waves all year round, due to the nature of the wave’s temperament most surfers will still opt for the friendlier East Beach ,even during the summer months.
