Cape Town International Kite Festival

#RiseUpAndFly

Africa’s biggest kite festival, the Cape Town International Kite Festival, is proudly hosted by Cape Mental Health and all profits will go toward helping them provide vital services to adults and children in resource-poor communities.

The annual kiting extravaganza is the grand finale to October’s Mental Health Month campaign and has been flying in support of Cape Mental Health since 1994.

Now in its 24th year, the festival continues to attract over 20 000 visitors each year and some of the most well-known kiting people in South Africa. Come and meet an aerial ‘big five’ when Nemo, Squid, Octopus, Red Teddy and Bertie the Worm!

Visitors can watch amazing professional kiting displays, kite flying stunts and Rokakau kite battles as well as giant inflatables. Bring along your own kite to fly in the public arena or buy one of the many new affordable types of kites on sale. If you really feeling creative, why not make your own at one of the several free kite-making workshops for children and adults on both days.

Even if you don’t fly, come along to see the amazing kite creations from around the world, enjoy the food, entertainment, competitions and craft market.
