Beautiful Day Out

The Muizenberg Catwalk is an easy stroll for just about everyone. The walk begins at the Muizenberg Station, staying on the seaward side of the railway line, it hugs the coastline for 3 km until St James near Kalk Bay.

The Catwalk is best done at low tide unless you enjoy a dousing of sea spray, so check the tide timetable before you head out. The walk offers excellent opportunities for whale watching and bird watching and both young and old will find the rock pools great for exploring.

The walk takes about 40 minutes in each direction. Make a day of it by spending some time on the beach or take the train into Kalk Bay for fish and chips before returning.  If you didn’t spot some of the historical buildings on the other side of the railway on your walk out of Muizenberg perhaps you would like to cross over at St James Station and head back along the Muizenberg Historical Mile

The Muizenberg Catwalk is very popular with the locals over the weekend however it is only advisable to only walk the route during daylight hours.
