Golf and friendliness is our game

The Margate Golf Course is not only popular with locals, but also with the many holiday makers who enjoy this perfect holiday destination along the South Coast. Margate is perfect for golfers all year round due to its’ warm tropical climate.

The course is an 18-hole, 72 Par, Semi-Links style golf course with Cynodon Grass Fairways and Bent Grass Greens. The length of the Course is 6 063m, which was designed by Matkovich and Hayes in back in 1950.

The Course is set on high ground and decorated with Palm Trees, Banana Trees and indigenous vegetation with excellent inland views. The Club is epitomised by its beautiful scenery and friendly members, but do not be fooled, the challenge offered by Margate is right up there with the best of them! Over the 18 holes you will cross various water features and the five Par 3’s are picturesque and highly regarded. The Course is well laid out to ensure it caters for golfers of all standards.

The Country Club underwent some serious upgrades in 1995 and has since been included in Golf Digest’s ranks as one of the top 100 clubs in South Africa and the Club continues to enjoy a growing number of international contingents.

Visitors are always welcome at the Club and can even arrange a game with Members through the Pro Shop who will remind them that the 19th Hole is still the friendliest!
