The Klerksdorp Golf Course is one of the oldest golf courses in South Africa, placed at number five on the list, along with the Kimberley Golf Course.

This popular course was established back in 1889 and has been able to grow since then from a 9-hole course with greens made of blougrond (a mixture of sand and motor oil) to an immaculate and challenging 18-hole golf course with a very healthy membership.

Today the course is a 72 Par Parklands Course with Kikuyu Fairways and Bent/Skaapplaas Grass Greens. The Course is 6 380 meters in length. The course is designed both for the beginner and the skilled and serious golfer who will find the course a challenge. It begins immediately with the first hole being protected by two bunkers and a dead tree. After the first nine, which has a few deceiving holes, golfers can take a well-deserved “time out” at the halfway house or under the lapa and enjoy a quick snack.

The second nine offers a tricky 16th Hole, a par 3, where players are expected to cross the Schoonspruit twice in order to reach the green. While playing the final nine, keep in mind that you are going to want to end off this course with style because the last hole ends right in front of the clubhouse. It will be an opportunity to show everyone your professional golfing skills!
