All About the Beach
The perfect stop over between the Transkei and the Garden Route, Kidds Beach is an uninterrupted landscape of white sand and sea, and little else to spoil the beauty of this seaside village.
The town is nestled between Kidds Beach Nature Reserve to the South and the East London Coast Nature Reserve to the North and lies on the Mcantsi River which ends in a lagoon at the beach of the same name. The town is all about the beach and Kidds Beach is the perfect backdrop for snorkelling, bookie boarding, sunbathing and surf fishing. Whales have been spotted along this part of the sunshine coast, mostly between May and August, and the annual sardine run during June/July brings schools of dolphins as well as game fish and sharks that follow.
Kidds Beach is only 25 km’s from East London which means should holiday makers wish to include activities other than visiting the beach, they can head into the city and explore museums, art galleries, the Zoo and many other attractions in the area.
Life is simple here and other than a grocery store, bottle store, a bistro and a post office, there is little else to do but to enjoy the bay for its great swimming and the opportunity to explore hidden reefs and other beaches close by like Cove Rock and Fullers Bay. Visitors have a few Guesthouses, self-catering and B&B’s to choose from as well as a camping and caravan Resort near the lagoon.
