Like A Majestic Ocean Liner

The Vaal Lookout guest lodge bestrides the shoreline of the pristine Vaal Dam, in the water sports resort of Deneysville, in the Free State, just an hour's drive from Johannesburg, South Africa.

Established in the late 1930's, when the Vaal Dam was built to serve the water needs of Johannesburg, the village is a mecca for the serious yachtsman, for water-skiers, jet skiers, canoeists, fishermen, bird watchers and astronomers.

About Us

The Vaal Lookout is designed to serve the needs of tourists, the corporate sector, water sports enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful weekend retreat. It makes an excellent first night stopover for tourists embarking on a leisurely motoring journey between Johannesburg and Cape Town, being on the route to the scenic Eastern Highlands of the Free State.

The Vaal Lookout also makes a delightful base for visiting members of the horse racing fraternity, with the Vaal Racecourse being only 15 minutes away.

Access to Deneysville is via one of three very well surfaced, equidistant routes, through either Vereeniging, Henley-On-Klip or Heidelberg. Take a trip out to our spectacular inland sea and experience our superb cuisine, fine wines, sumptuous accommodation, tranquil garden, gazebo and plunge pool for residents, as well as our excellent entertainment. And try to be there for full moon on the waters of the Vaal Dam. It's unforgettable!

Accommodation

Guest accommodation comprises five double suites, each with a sumptuous bathroom en suite. Its two enormous, dam-facing, upper level guest rooms are reminiscent of the elegant staterooms on a luxury liner. The two suites at the rear are also beautifully appointed, each in an individual style, the one Victorian and the other African in character. Two of the upstairs bedrooms provide family accommodation, for up to six persons.
